The Black Beaver Chapter was established in Norman, Oklahoma in
1914 by organizing regent, Mrs. Malvina Bowling Glen. The name of the chapter
was selected to honor Black Beaver, a Delaware Indian. He was an exceptional
scout and trapper renowned for his assistance to fellow Native Americans, settlers and
the United States Government.
