Membership Information

"Do you have a Revolutionary Patriot in your family tree? Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) honors and preserves the legacy of your Patriot ancestor. Over two hundred years ago, American Patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a member of DAR, through participation in the Society’s various programs and activities, you can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavors."

--National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution

Any woman is eligible for membership who is no less than eighteen years of age and can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death.

Admission to membership in the NSDAR is either by invitation through a chapter in a state organization or Unit Overseas. No chapter may discriminate against an applicant on the basis of race or creed.

If you are interested in obtaining more information on membership, please take these two steps:

  1. Check out the membership information and all of the wonderful resources on the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution website.
