Every year, thousands of people attend the May Daze festival on the third weekend of May in downtown Main Street. The family-friendly fall festival is held on the last Saturday of October and Pumpkinfest is held on Main Street on October 31. Throughout the year, numerous parades are held in local cities and the annual Christmas parade is held on the second Saturday of December. The story of Blanchard began when the Canadian Valley Construction Company sold lots of land in September 1906. The first building was completed by McClain who opened a grocery store. On December 19th, 1906, Blanchard was recognized as a city by the post office department and McClain was appointed postmaster.
